Denny Hamlin L1 Compression FractureDenny Hamlin suffered a L1 Compression Fractures after his late race wreck at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Hamlin was leading coming down to the checkered door to door with Logano, when contact with Logano sent Hamlin hard into the inside wall. There was no safer barrier and Denny immediately collapsed upon getting out of the car.

Hamlin was air evaced to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a L1 Compression Fracture. A vertabrae in Hamlin’s lower back was compressed during the wreck causing it become fractured and deformed.

Denny walked out of the hospital tonight on his own power, but was in a back brace and commented it was difficult to breathe because of the injury. Denny will fly home tonight and visit Dr. Jerry Petty of Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates later this week for further evaluation on his recovery.

We will continue to keep everyone updated on Denny’s condition and any word on his recovery. Thanks for the continued prayers and support.
