Denny Hamlin once again had a tough weekend but managed to survive with a 12th place finish at one of his best tracks; Martinsville.

After starting 5th, Denny Hamlin looked strong early in the race. Denny led a total of 89 laps and looked to be in his usual routine at Martinsville with a strong car that could contend for the win.

As the race went on, Denny started to fade a little bit falling back as far as 5th. It was apparent that Denny clearly had a top 5 car but luck and circumstance would put Denny mid pack at the end of the race.

Denny’s car was extremely tight torwards the end of the race, and Mike Ford called Denny in to short pit. Short pitting would help Denny make up some time on the 4 cars in front of him, and allow the team to fix some handling issues for Denny. Unfortunately a yellow came out shortly after Denny came to short pit. Denny had to get the wave around to get his lap back and had to start at the end of the field.

Denny drove back up to 12th after having to start at the back. The FedEx team had a top 5 car at Martinsville but unfortunately didn’t get the finish they deserved. Kevin Harvick went on to win the race, Congrats!

Denny Qualifies 5th: Denny had an extremely interesting warm up lap as he vigorously worked to warm up his tires.
