Denny Hamlin faced a long day during the Nationwide History 300 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He faced engine problems early in the race that continued to plaque him throughout the day. Early in the race the team brought Denny Hamlin down pit road to change a carburetor. He went a lap down which put him far back in the field.

Hamlin worked his way back up through the field and was running down leader Brad Keselowski at the end. Unfortunately Denny was not left with enough time to catch Keselowski and brought home a solid second place finish.
