TRD Toyota Racing EngineIf you haven’t heard by now, Joe Gibbs Racing will be partnering with Toyota Racing Development to develop engines. Toyota will build the engines and the Gibbs Racing shops will tune them.

The Toyota racing engines won’t fit the JGR chassis, so the JGR chassis will have to be retrofitted to fit the new engines. This process will take some time.

Denny Hamlin pushed to have a TRD engine in his car this weekend at Michigan and got his way. The TRD engines should be more reliable, but will most likely be down on horse power compared to the former Gibbs engines.

We shall see how they perform, Denny is obviously looking out for the team and wants a more reliable motor and thus pushed for the new engine this weekend.
